Fay Green, MEd, MA, LPC Intern, LMFTA, CT
Fay Green, educator and grief counselor, joined Legacy Valley Counseling in 2009 as a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern and a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist Associate.
Prior to working as a counselor, I worked in public education as a teacher and administrator. During that phase of my career, I worked with children, adolescents, and adults assisting them in setting achievable goals and companioning them in reaching goals. My career had been redirected to work with person around end-of-life issues, diagnoses of life threatening illnesses, grief and loss, life-transitions, and trauma.
My experience as an educator is an asset for counseling individuals, families, or groups. My particular interest is working with caregivers and helping equip them for the challenges of caring for someone diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. As a family therapist, I can assist families when the family system is out of balance with a life transition, the diagnosis of a life-threatening, or death. Part of my experience has been working with families receiving hospice care and with children who have experienced the death of a parent.
I earned a Masters of Education degree from Tarleton State University, Stephenville, Texas. Recently I redirected my career and earned a Master of Arts in Thanatology, the psychology and sociology of dying, death, and bereavement from Hood College, Frederick, Maryland. In 2009, I earned a Masters of Arts in Counseling from St. Edwards University, Austin, Texas with training for a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage Family Counselor.
As a life-long learner, I have chosen to expand my knowledge and to network with other counselors. I am a member of the Texas Counseling Association (TCA), Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (TAMFT), American Association of Marriage Family Therapists (AAMFT), and the Association of Death Educators and Counselors (ADEC). I hold a certified thanatologist certification (CT) through the Association of Death Educators and counselors.
While working as an intern to gain counseling experience, I am supervised by Gloria Smith, MA, LPC, LMFT. My fee is $40 for a 50 minute session, and I offer a sliding scale for persons who might be experiencing financial difficulties. I accept cash, check or credit card for payment.
I can be reached at 210-218-1546 for an initial consultation and appointment. You can also reach me by email at fayhgreen@gmail.com.
Karla Poole, M.A., LPCI, LMFTA, CCH
My passion for mind-body techniques and helping people feel better started about 30 years ago while studying Ethno-medicine practices. Even while a nurse, the emotional and psychological underpinnings of an illness were as important to me as the physical afflictions.
Today as a therapist, I feel truly blessed to be helping my clients learn to soothe their stressed bodies and quiet their anxious minds –with the added benefit of helping reduce symptoms of stress related disorders.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Medical Hypnotherapy approaches work well in many cases and have the added benefit of being personalized to each client’s needs and characteristics—this is a very important factor!
My focus as a counselor is on you the client, your own unique mind-body dynamic, and helping you experience positive
health enhancing changes.
At this time, I am completing my internships for Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. Appointment days are flexible and hours are 1:00pm to 6:00pm. My fee is $40 and I do not take insurance at this time.
I am committed to helping my clients improve their mental and behavioral health! Please call if you need further information.
