Andrea Ellis, MA, LPC...

I believe that there are times in each of our lives when we must lean on others in order to make it through a difficult time. Perhaps that time is here for you now; or maybe it feels like you have never known a time that was not difficult.

Regardless of your particular circumstances, you may be at a place where you believe that you have no one to lean on, or feel that the ones you could lean on would never understand what is really going on in your heart and mind.

My privilege is to provide an atmosphere where you can share those thoughts and feelings without fear of bias or judgment. It is a professional relationship I offer to my clients where they are free to express what they feel others cannot understand or respond to. I do not claim to have answers to every problem or be able to fix every difficult situation. However, I strongly believe that together, change can occur.

My orientation is that change begins as we work together to evaluate and specify the root of the problem you are facing. Through addressing these issues, the goal centers on an adjustment of perspective: a cognitive change. To begin this change, options are identified and explored patiently in your timing and in a unique manner that compliments your personality and draws upon your strengths. My belief is that as this heart change occurs, the outward stress related to circumstantial difficulties will minimize and behavioral symptoms will be easier to control.

This process is one that requires full investment on both of our parts to persevere through setting and attaining goals centered on growth. So often individual growth is needed to break harmful patterns within families and relationships. A focus on growth challenges you to be the one to stop the cycle of anxiety and depression that may be negatively impacting your relationships. Growth encourages you to step outside of the comfortable coping strategies you have grown accustomed to. Growth creates a desire to see relationships reconciled and communication restored.

With plants growth begins when the right amount of sunlight and water is received. Likewise, I believe in human hearts, counseling is often needed to bring light to an area that has been in the dark, and nourishment to a place that has been starved. Together I hope to seek out those dark and starved places of your heart so that healing and growth can begin. I would consider it a great honor to join with you in this courageous process.
